Weekly Snippet

Last Week…

…Was a quite a mix of benchmarks moving different directions.

If, like most investors, you were only tracking ‘The Market’ meaning the S&P 500 or the Dow (both up a point or more) you would have concluded it was a great week. However, a closer look reveals that aside from these popular benchmarks, as well as Large Growth and Tech, a far less exciting picture in US stocks emerges:

  • With Health Care dropping -1.47%
  • Large Value barely beating .25% gain
  • Mid Growth ahead  .53%
  • And, both Small Growth and Value losing ground
  • US Equity REITS slipped a quarter point as well

Foreign stocks all lost ground starting with Foreign REITS:

  • Dropping nearly 1.0%
  • All other Foreign Equities fell between one-half and 1.0%
  • The bright spot was Commodities – up 2.5% and just under 7% YTD. And a positive 2 year trailing return for the first time in a long time.

Bonds did almost nothing either way except for US Treasury TIPS, up .24%.

Have a great weekend!
