Weekly Snippet

Last Week…

…Nearly everything came up, up, UP!

Yes, everything except Commodities that is.. Commodities -0.69%

  • All Equities, both U.S. and Foreign increased from a range of 3.58% to nearly 5.3%. Foreign lagged just a bit on the lower end of that range. U.S. REITS, Global REITS saw a rise of nearly 2.8% each.
  • Even Bonds climbed out of the basement with 0.2%-2.14% gains.

When the media is conveying fear, everyone around you seems unhappy with the general way of things and the market goes “YAY!” it certainly begs the question. “why?”.

A few recent developments we note may help explain renewed market momentum:

  • Anticipation of a potential Fed rate cut.
  • Recent employment report of a dismal 75k new jobs added in May  – a case of bad news=good news, adding fuel to the rate cut chatter mentioned above.
  • Trump Tariff threat for Mexican trade OFF the table – for the moment.

Have a great weekend!
