Last Week…

Today we’d like to talk a little about investment perspective. Here’s an analogy to illustrate what investment perspective is. Imagine an individual walking up a hill bouncing a ball. Long term, the individual walking is progressing up the hill—so long term you see slow and steady growth.

Now take this into account for the markets.

YTD the markets have done very well. Nearly everything is up!

  • Slight downturns occurred in Large Growth – Health Care and Technology
  • REITS (both US and Global) and bonds across the board were down, excluding High Yield.
  • As for Commodities, everyone is experiencing great relief at the gas pumps from just a few years ago (although gasoline is a bit higher at the moment after the hurricanes in the US)

The media focuses on the ball bouncing, not the man walking up the hill. We are long term investors. What happens day to day doesn’t matter—in the long term the market grows. Keep your eye on the man walking up the hill and not the bouncing ball!

Have a great week!
