With summer here at last, many of us are planning for some fun-filled family vacations. Unfortunately, traveling can get pricy fast. But it doesn’t have to break the bank! Today we would like to offer a few travel tips that could save you money if you utilize them!

  • Have flexible dates.

If you visit popular destinations during off seasons they will often be less crowded and less expensive. To find when an off season is, you can research online or check airfare calendars for their cheapest days and times.

  • Have a flexible destination.

Get off the beaten path and try somewhere new! You will most likely save on lodging costs. But do always double check airline costs to make sure it’s not more expensive

  • Create fare alerts for the destinations and airlines you’re interested in.

Many websites offer this service that you can sign up for online so you can catch fluctuating rates.

  • Book at the right time.

Different sources disagree, but booking a flight more than 3 weeks out on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday can be the least expensive.

  • Sign up for emails.

This is a great way to snag last-minute deals if you can be flexible with dates and locations.

  • Take advantage of the loyalty programs offered by many businesses.

For example, many airline loyalty programs offer deals if you fly frequently for work!

  • Consider alternate lodging.

Instead of booking a big-name hotel check out other hotels nearby. Check into bed & breakfasts, vacation rental homes, hostels, house swaps and even state parks!

Have a great weekend!
